Dear WHSC members,
It was a great summer at the club. There were many fun small parties held by club members, and also many big group club and team organized parties, but there was hardly any damage or mess left after the parties. Thank you all for your help in keeping our club clean for everyone to enjoy. Also, our club is so much safer by you remembering to always close the front gate. Thank you so much for being the best members so we can be the best neighborhood club around.
Thank you, Michael
I am sad to announce that our beloved ex-president, my predecessor, Mr. Michael Brooding has decided to step down from maintenance director role. For the last 15 years, yes FIFTEEN, Michael has worked on various board positions such as team treasurer and club president. His countless contributions to the team and the club include eliminating the gate duties, working on the last two club renovations, and paying off the last bank loan. With not all in agreements, he reinforced the team members over 1 year to join the club. Some might think this would affect the team membership, but on the contrary, team membership reached a new height on the following few years, and the club reached capacity of 175 members. Our club really owes a tremendous debt of gratitude to his commitment and the legacy he has left. Michael, on behalf of the club, thank you so very much!
New Maintenance Director
Taking over from Michael as the maintenance director is Mr. Tom Bierly. The maintenance director is in charge of taking care of the day to day club maintenance work. When anything goes wrong at the club, from broken sprinklers to pool heater and pump, maintenance director is the go to guy to arrange the fix. As a certified contractor, Tom is familiar with all types of maintenance work our club requires. Though it is typical for the maintenance director to hire outside companies to work on the maintenance items, Tom said he will probably just fix the small stuffs himself. Lucky for the club, he has already helped fixing several items including the shower. Thank you, Tom, and welcome on board!
Conference Champion
A little overdue, but I would like to congratulate the 2018 Walnut Creek Conference Champion, WHO, the Otters. Hard work pays off, you deserve the big trophy, Otters! We, as parents and as the club, are super proud of all of you. Let’s repeat it in 2019!
Fall Clinic
Same as last year, WHO is going to hold a fall clinic on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday afternoons from 4-6, starting next week. Baby pool will still be opened to the club members and lap swimmers can still use one lap swimmer lane (ask the coach if not available). If you are interested in signing up, it is not too late yet. You can go to team website at www.whoswimming.com to sign up.
There will be plenty of hot days ahead before the pool is closed for the season on 10/28. Hope to see many of you at the club.
Sincerely,
Trace Lee, Club President
